The athlete recorded her personal best of 1:54.61 the previous season in London.

Keely Hodgkinson finished her 800m season with a triumph at the all-female Athlos event in NYC on Friday evening.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the World Championships recently, excelled in an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was only her sixth race in a season impacted by a hamstring injury.

Compatriot and global silver winner Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot once more in one minute 58.33 seconds, while St Vincent's Shafiqua M. (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I've barely raced this season so it was likely less of a struggle for me to go out there and be motivated to perform," stated Hodgkinson.

"The environment at the event is incredible so it was extremely enjoyable."

The female-exclusive meet packed the stadium in its second edition, introducing a party atmosphere to conventional athletics, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting traditional winners' medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena Williams, who is married to Athlos founder Alexis O., was on hand to present the victors with their tiaras.

Last year's winners received $60,000 (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The competition also drew several top athletes, as Kenya's triple Olympic champion and world record holder Faith Kipyegon won the mile, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

The US Brittany Brown, the 200m bronze winner from the recent Paris Games, won the sprint double.
