New England Equal Best Victory Run Since Tom Brady Years with Win Over New York Jets

First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has tallied five scores during the current campaign

The New England Patriots equaled their longest winning run since the Tom Brady period as they beat division opponents the New York Jets by 13 points in professional football

Rookie Henderson shone brightly with three scores as the New England squad notched an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since iconic QB Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019

Quarterback Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a score, completing 25 of 34 passes

The triumph bolsters the New England's advantage at the top of the division as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after dropping to a 2-8 mark

The visitors had scored first at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Justin Fields running in a five-yard TD to cap the Jets' opening drive

But the New England responded in the second quarter as Henderson rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier caught a pass from Maye at the back of the end zone midway through the third period to push the score to 21 to 7

"It was a crucial moment for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of the rookie. "He wants to be excellent."

Fields threw to John Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the Jets but Borregales booted a two field goals in the final period as the Patriots wrapped up the triumph
